I am the voice of your form
I run through your fascia
the envelope sheath of your body in rapture
I speak in spirals and vortices and pulsating stillpoints,
I draw back the memories of your watery past and
the primordial oceans where you once began
My story yearns to be heard
to be allowed the luxurious dance of renewal
and the slow and gentle release and return

Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy has been developed and widely taught by Dr. John Upledger and the Upledger Institute since 1985.

Craniosacral Therapy uses subtle pressure and intention to balance the cranial bones, the sacrum and the tissues associated with them. This work can bring a profound sense of peace and well being while at the same time benefiting the endocrine, muscular skeletal and nervous systems.

Craniosacral Therapy is especially effective treatment for headache, Tmj, dizziness, whiplash, back pain, pituitary tumor, ADD, insomnia, depression, anxiety, Bell's palsy, tendonitis, shoulder and back pain.

The Craniosacral System
The Craniosacral System extends from the bones of the skull (cranium) down to the tailbone (sacrum) and includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding and protecting the brain and spinal cord.

This system produces a wave like motion as CSF is secreted, circulated and reabsorbed. The "cranial wave" is transmitted through the meningeal membranes to the cranium, sacrum and connective tissues throughout the whole body.

How CST Works
The Cranial Wave is transmitted throughout the body by fascia. This is a type of connective tissue that is continuous from the top of the head to the tips of the toes and invests all the organs, muscles, and bones.

The Cranial wave can be felt anywhere on the body as a rhythmic broadening and narrowing of the cranial bones, sacrum, and fascia at the rate of 6-12 times a minute.

The amplitude and vitality of the cranial wave can give us vital information about a persons overall state of health. We can use the cranial wave to tell us exactly where a restriction in the body is located.

What is a Restriction?
A restriction refers to fascia that lacks its usual glide and elasticity. This can be caused by stress, trauma, surgery, hormone imbalances, fever or chemicals.

A restriction has a diminished cranial wave movement through it and tends to pull in surrounding tissue. With this understanding we can use the cranial wave as a diagnostic tool to point us toward the most restricted area's in the body.

Treatment
This work is founded on the belief that the body itself knows how to heal itself and will provide the lead in any treatment.

Once we localize a restriction we use very light pressure to start the process of unwinding and releasing. We then follow with the direction the body is moving to bring about a stillpoint (pause) in the rhythm. This then allows the body to reset itself and move in a more functional way. Thus the body's wisdom and rate of healing is always honored.
