User Experience Specialist
User experience specialist in information architecture applies a variety
of HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) techniques. Collects and organizes
human or customer requirements, develops personas, facilitates information
architecture exercises, runs field, lab and benchmark studies, and/or
participates in rapid prototyping cycles.
In support of interaction design efforts works with designers and product
managers tackling difficult usability issues. User Experience Specialist
assesses the information architecture of new and revised features, and
contributes to requirements gathering for both.
UX specialist performs heuristic reviews, cognitive and pluralistic walkthroughs,
and contextual inquiry. Also contributes to documents describing user
interface principles, standards, and knowledge.
Script and conduct usability studies of existing and proposed designs
and is responsible for the recruitment and screening of usability test
participants. Immediately following each test session, prepares an interpretive
report that enables the project team to make decisions, and reports results
to the team.
Conducts heuristic reviews, cogntive walkthroughs, contextual inquiry,
usability studies; develops site maps, wireframes, scenarios and other
deliverables to clearly communicate the workflow and organization of Web
sites and web-based tools. Contribute to the effectiveness of consumer-facing
web sites and to the efficiency of employee productivity tools.
Training and experience in human-computer interaction includes information
architecture, experimental design, and observational methods. Experience

A degree or extensive coursework in human-computer interaction, usability

industrial design, or a related field.
